July 4th Update

Hello, my bloggies. A bit of business to address here tonight. We've had to pull out of our July 4th show in Corning. That's because Mike's shoulder had to pull out of its socket...

IthaCulture

For you fine folks living on the RSS feed, which requires me to get to the point in under three sentences, we're playing The Haunt on June 19th. More MP3s are online for download, and we have a new mailing list widget. And now a pause, and now, more relaxed.

Lovely show last night at Castaways...

Upcoming shows (on short notice)

There's nothing like our Myspace page to send this webmaster into a Monks-induced panic. I had heard rumors of an all-acoustic set at the Lost Dog Cafe for a week or so, but I had neglected to check our Myspace page until today, thinking Steve would shoot me an e-mail or something to let me know about the schedule change. Well, sure enough, no e-mail, and the latest change to our infamous schedule page reflects what you might have already learned from elsewhere. This Saturday, May 17th, the Monks play an acoustic set at the Lost Dog Cafe in Ithaca, featuring a few covers (which is almost unheard of in Monks lore)...

Hooray Monks!

Announcing the arrival of Milo Adelewitz, our newest and smallest bass player! I don't have the specifics. He weighs a few pounds, I think. He eats, he cries, he does other cute baby things, and on top of all that, he plays bass. But that's all I know...

In case you've been waiting for t-shirts, your season has come. The new shirts have arrived, and will be on sale the next time the Monks hit the road. They'll also be on sale shortly in our online store, where you can also pick up a copy of our award-winning self-titled album.

We're very excited about our profile in the May issue of Metal Edge Magazine, on sale at newsstands now, notably at your local Barnes & Noble...

Jerry the Classic Rock Accordion Player

Once upon a time, while ascending the melodic slopes of Rock Mountain, a quintet of Armageddon Monks stumbled upon a man carrying an accordion. The accordion, being on Rock Mountain, was full of rock. It was a most heavy accordion.

"Excuse me, Mister Accordion Man," said all five Monks in unison, "may we help you bear your load of rock?"

"No thanks," said the man...

Schedule Changes

Yes, there are schedule changes. The show at The Haunt has been moved from a Thursday to a Friday. Why? I don't know. Who else is playing? I don't know...

Loud and Clear

We are happy to report that the Monks have returned safely to Ithaca, this time without a speeding ticket. The show at Snitch in New York City was a resounding success, the kind that makes your head numb for three days afterwards. Or maybe that's just the cold air.

The joint was packed, in a legal way...

Grilled Cheez

The Armageddon Monks destroyed Philadelphia this past week. Again. Or it might have been the cover band playing in the next room. In case you missed it (from the Monks Myspace blog, compliments of drummer Mike Hunter):

"We're ripping through Wayward, and in the last climactic chorus there's an odd snapping sound and the PA system goes dead...

New Year, New Website

Welcome to the brand spanking new website of the Armageddon Monks, with an emphasis on spanking. I've been looking after armageddonmonks.com for about a year now, and a few months ago the old website started to show signs of age. For example, you'd click on Video and find clips from the Lawrence Welk Show...
